Why Short Works
A grieving person may receive dozens of messages. Short, sincere words are easy to read and easy to hold onto. "I'm so sorry. I'm here." is a complete message โ it says everything that matters. Don't feel pressured to write more.
Even in a short message, avoid "he's in a better place" or "everything happens for a reason." Stick to simple sympathy and an open door: "Thinking of you. I'm here if you need me."
